CENTRAL COMMITTEE

This budget will be reckoned in history as one of the
cheapest election gimmicks
The Union Budget for 2019-20 has clearly shown that the
Modi government is trying to woo the middle income group without disturbing the
super rich. The government has shown it clearly that the farmers' debts will not
be written off. Instead, it has thrown a clumsy bait of ₹6000/- annual relief for the devastated lower strata of
the peasantry. A really cruel practical joke indeed!
The budget has shamelessly evaded
from stating the data of unemployment and farmers' suicides. It says that
reliable data is not there authentic enough to present before the parliament!
The Jumla master's earlier promises of 15 lakh deposits for everyone and of 10
crore employment opportunities have thus finally vanished into thin air.
The claim that the tax base
will go widened, even when the tax
rebate given for increased sections of middle income group and the corporate
taxes are decreased, is telling example of squeezing the public in systematic
continuity.
When the scale of deficiency of
malnutrition among the masses goes up menacingly hundreds of crores of rupees
are earmarked for Goraksha. This is sheer expression of arrogance towards the poorest
and of open abetment of Hindutva.
This budget will be reckoned in
history as one of the cheapest election gimmicks that has miserably failed even
to hoodwink people. All it has kept up is the regime's commitment to
neoclassical recipes such as fiscal control and widening of indirect taxation
while keeping the rich and the corporate capital houses untouched. The agrarian
distress, intensifying unemployment and social impoverishment are furthered by
this budget once more.
