REENA BANSOD: REPORTS--Slum dwellers, hawkers, construction workers, domestic workers and other unorganized workers stormed Mumbai's Azad Maidan on 28th July 2017

Slum dwellers, hawkers, construction workers, domestic workers and other unorganized workers stormed Mumbai's Azad Maidan on 28th July 2017 demanding stoppage of slum demolition, increasing cut off date for illegal slums upto year 2016, strict implementation of hawkers' livelyhood protection act of 2014. A memorandum was given to urban development minister. More than 5000 people participated in this program. This rally was jointly organized by Ghar Hakk Sangharsh Samanvay Samity and Maharashtra Hawkrrs' Frderation. Com Hiraman Pagar, Adesh Bansode, Santosh Sable, Kailash Sarkate, Sandeep Donde, Vilas Hivale and others spoke on behalf of slum dwellers while National Hawkers Federation's general secretary Shaktiman Ghosh, AITUC's national secretary com Vijaya Lakshmi, Vinita Balekundri and Com Uday Chaudhary spoke for hawkers.
