Encounters in Andhra and Telangana:
Rabid State
Terror

The startling incidents of killing of 25 men, to be the result of police
firing in ‘self defence’ are reported from the states of Andhra Pradesh and
Telangana. One is reported to have happened in the Seshachalam forest at the foot of the
Tirumala hills in Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh in which 20
workers from Tamil Nadu had been killed. The next incident was from Telangana
where hand cuffed detainees, who were kept under judicial custody and were
being brought to court with armed escort, were shot dead inside a prison
vehicle by the police.
These
killings have evident signature of the ‘fake encounter’ killings
that the police and the task force used to carry out , this time all the more
obvious, and have attracted wide and intense protests. The attitude of the
central and state forces and the ruling regimes look to be abetters to this
cold blooded crime.
The party
severely condemns this act of rabid state terror and calls for democratic
forces to rally against the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments’ dastardly
action; and demands comprehensive transparent inquiry keeping all the involved
uniformed men under immediate suspension from office.
