CPI(ML) Red Flag criticises CPI(M)’s tactical line

Delegates at the ongoing State conference of the CPI(ML) Red Flag here have called for the coming together of Left parties to ward off the “threat of U.S. imperialism”.

A senior party functionary told The Hinduon Tuesday that CPI(M), the largest communist party in the country, was reportedly averse to such a discussion. At a time when Sitaram Yechury, general secretary of that party, was contemplating an understanding with the Congress, it was not clear why they were hesitant to have an alliance with other Communist parties and Left groups. The understanding with parties such as CPI(ML) Liberation was confined to local bodies and Assemblies in northern States. When Prakash Karat was the general secretary, there was some talk of a broad Left Front, which seemed not to have made much of a headway, the CPI(ML) Red Flag leader said.
